Birmingham Pals

We apologise for any inconvenience but this site is currently undergoing extensive revision.

(We are sorry that due to illness this site has not been maintained as we would like however we hope you find it useful).

This site is dedicated to the men who served with the Birmingham Pal’s regiments during WW1 including my grandfather who was one of the first to join the Pals and who kept a miniature diary of  his initial experience of the war.

The diary was about two inches by three and decorated with images of birds which he had drawn. Sadly the diary itself appears to have gone missing in a house move shortly after it was transcribed.

On this website you will find there is a lot of information about serving soldiers, significant places and events, as well as details of family historians interested in the Birmingham Pal’s or the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

We suggest a good place to start might be to use the search facility and to look under the Notes and Queries page (currently under development)

If you have information to share about anyone who enlisted into the Pal’s regiments please get in touch

We plan to respond to any outstanding requests as soon as we can and thankyou for your patience.

The majority of the information contained on this site has been sourced directly from Private Whitmore’s diary.
