William Bernard Whitmore

14th (Service) Battalion

Royal Warwickshire Regiment

(The Birmingham Pals)

Number 133 ('A' Company)

I would love to make contact with others who have relatives who served in the battalion, or have an interest in it. Please email me if you have any information.

The Divisional ColoursThis page describes the engagements that the 5th Division of the British Army were engaged in during William's tour of duty. Without consulting more the battalion's own war diary, it is impossible to say what part the battalion played in these engagements. I hope to be able to do this soon.

William Whitmore's Battalion served in the 13th Brigade, alongside the following battalions:

British 5th Division - Engagements, 1916-1918

Please note: as with all tables like this one, remember that it lists only engagements with the enemy. Troops would spend considerable amounts of time each year in the trenches, and within firing range of the enemy. Shelling and sniping would be a permanent danger, which lessened (but did not disappear) when there was no major engagement.
